What is this Activity Book About?
Journeying through Lent as an adult, with years of faith behind you or hardly any experience at all can seem daunting enough. But parents today must also attempt to guide their children from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday, without losing sight of the cross, nor of the joy of Easter morning. How can we manage it? Week by week, with little stories, crafts and time outdoors to reflect on God’s word, his creation and in his boundless love for us all. This activity book is designed to remove stress, and bring beauty, joy and fun to your family’s Lenten journey. It is also designed to save you time- time creating craft activities or finding the perfect colouring sheet or word search- we’ve spent time doing this for you, so you just need to print your activities, readings and templates out each week.
Each week includes:
- a beautiful and unique illustration (you may wish to print this and use it as a reminder of the week’s theme or frame it)
- Bible verses that align with the week’s theme
- an original short story
- two craft ideas + templates
- one outdoor activity
- a puzzle (crossword/word search/word scramble)
- a reflections page
We have also included ideas like a ‘do good jar’ (and a list of 100 things for children to give up/ take on for Lent) and a ‘Lenten journey’ at the end of this booklet, where children can write one thing they will give up for each week of Lent. We pray that these resources bless your family and that by following them, you also benefit from a spare hour or more each day to pray, read, rest and reflect as parents during this incredible 6 week period.
